Panchathanthra that stole my mind.
One of the most attractive book for me...
๐ฏ๐ฑ๐๐ฎ Among the books of literature that I have read, one of my
favourite is the “Panchathantra”. This is a very old book written from folk
tales of India. This is special because there are so many stories here that give
very valuable advices to our life.
๐ฏ๐ฑ๐๐ฎ The Panchathanthra ia s combination of the words “Pancha”
meaning five in Sanskrit, and “Thanthra” meaning weave. Literally translated,
it means interweaving five skeins of traditions and teachings into a text.
๐ฏ๐ฑ๐๐ฎ The Panchathantnhra is an ancient Indian collection of
interrelated animal fables in Sanskrit verse and prose, arrange within a framw
story. The original text consists of an introduction, followed by five parts or
treatises.
๐ฏ๐ฑ๐๐ฎ It is likely a Hindu text, and based on older oral
traditions with animal fables that are as old as we are able to imagine.
๐ฏ๐ฑ๐๐ฎ The prelude section of the Panchathanthra identifies a great
Brahmin named “Vishnusharma” as its author. It is certainly the most frequently
translated literary product of India. And these stories are among the most
widely known in the world.
๐ฏ๐ฑ๐๐ฎ It goes by many names in many cultures. There is a version
of Panchathanthra in nearly every major language of India, and in addition
there are 200 versions of the text in more than 50 languages around the world.
๐ฏ๐ฑ๐๐ฎ The story of the fox that fell into the pot of blue dye that
we heard as childhood is written here. A simple folk tale that can be read by
children as well as adults without discrimination, conveys a profound
philosophical meaning to society.
๐ฏ๐ฑ๐๐ฎ The original collection was compiled in Kashmir about 200
BC, and that at this time many of the stories were already ancient. The work’s self-proclaimed
purpose is to educate the sons of royalty. The author is stated to be teaching
the principles of good government to three princes of “Amarashakthi”.
๐ฏ๐ฑ๐๐ฎ Indian literature is very close to Sri Lankan literature. Folktales
are also very close to our lives. Many stories from the Panchathanthra written
in history are connected with the concept of Gods.
๐ฏ๐ฑ๐๐ฎ I am personally very fond of God stories and Hindu literature.
๐ฏ๐ฑ๐๐ฎ The Monkey and the Crocodile, the most popular and most
widely narrated of the Panchathanthra stories. The Monkey and Crocodile become friends, but
the Crocodile wicked wife has other intentions.

๐ฏ๐ฑ๐๐ฎ Read too. Find meaning and light in life by discovering literature
with fun.
